Tinder is now preparing itself to launch the lightweight version of the popular dating application called Tinder Lite. The lightweight version of the application will be smaller in size than the regular version and it will only be catering to the unique needs of the users where data is limited and weak. This application will be targeted towards people for whom bandwidth, storage space, and usage is a concern.
Almost all the major application companies have a Lite version of their application to cater to a broader audience. Since India is an emerging market, this kind of application like Tinder Lite has a very big scope of growth in the country.
Some of the companies who have introduced Lite version of their application are Google Go, Gmail Go, Files Go, YouTube Go, Google Maps Go, Google Assistant Go, TikTok Lite, Spotify Lite, Uber Lite, Twitter Lite, Messenger Lite, Instagram Lite, and Facebook Lite.
According to Tinder, they have reached a place where a Lite version is absolutely necessary for their company. The company has not yet shared any kind of information about the file size of the Tinder Lite app. Tinder now has a total of 4.7 million paid subscribers this quarter. Last year, this quarter, they had about 1.3 million subscribers which goes on to show how much growth the company has had in just one year. According to estimation from the BBC, in the year 2017, Tinder had almost 57 million monthly active users.
The Lite version of the application was announced by Tinder in the earnings call with the investors. The company has not yet shared any details about when the application will be available or how much work they have done with the application. All they said about the application Tinder Lite is that it is coming soon. Southeast Asia has seen a growth of 15 percent in internet penetration in the past 5 years, making it a perfect area to launch the Tinder Lite application.
“This area has more than a dozen high-density cities with over a million people, and more young people are moving to large cities. These are really important factors that make the need for our app high. We are excited about the Tinder Lite app that will be coming soon. It’s a big step forward addressing the needs of consumers there. Tinder Lite will be a smaller app to download. It will take less space on your phone, making Tinder more effective, even in more remote areas or regions. And keep in mind, these are regions where data usage still comes at a premium.”
Tinder has a huge presence in India. The parent company of Tinder Match Group has been restructuring itself with its Asia Pacific team so that it can promote their application in a better manner.
Tinder Lite just like any other Lite application will focus totally on the core experience and it is expected that a lot of new subscribers will be added to the company because of the Lite version. Ginsberg added:
“As a result of our continued investment and growth in this region, we expect that APAC will make up one-fourth of our company’s total revenue by 2023.”
