Steam Chat of Valve to get its own Android and iOS application

Just one year ago, Valve ended up releasing the big overhaul for all the features of chat built into the Steam game launcher. The main focus was modern day chat options which include better group chat features along with media embedded in it like GIFs.

This was seen as a hope of keeping some of the users from heading for Discord which was basically just one week away from being poked around Valve’s turf.

Today, the chat of Steam will go live in mobile devices. They have announced that the chat will be available immediately for both Android as well as an iOS platform. This platform will let users check who is online and who is playing what game.

Steam friends will now chat in groups as well as in pairs. If you do not like that your phone will get notified every time there is a message, then you can simply tweak notifications group by group basis and friend by friend basis.

The only complaint about this new application is that it cannot do voice calls yet. It is expected that this feature will be added very soon.
