Gain Expert Skills At Microsoft’s Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) With A Free Course

Microsoft’s Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) is viewed as the next step in IT applications. A single platform for users to control and navigate multiple complex processes. This makes it easier to manage the entire IT operation. The new platform offers a simplified API, which makes it easy for anyone using it.

The New Wave In Cloud Technology

Cloud technology is rapidly transforming IT. The new wave has evolved rapidly, leading to constant developments. AKS is very much the next curve. Any IT operator who wishes to stay updated with the latest platform will find the free course developed by Mohamed Radwan an easy learning process. Mr Radwan is an esteemed member of Microsoft MVPs community , and has made his mark working in the UK as a Principal Cloud DevOps.

The course consists of 5 modules that are designed to give the participant a comprehensive insight into AKS. Each module leads the participant to key concepts such as Docker, Kubernetes, and AKS. The purpose of the course is to unlock expert level skills of applications that include modern engineering in Azure and containerization.

Practical Learning

Any learning material is more easily absorbed when supplemented with practical demos and real world case studies. The participant can then master the subject at hand. The 5 modules enable both, beginners as well as expert users, to gain a better understanding of the new platform with step-by-step demos.

All the modules are available in English and Arabic (عربى).

Course Structure And Modules

Each of the 5 modules of the AKS Deep Dive course is carefully planned with 37 lessons, 33 demos, and a further 70 video lessons to simplify the new platform.

The5 main modules are structured as follows:

Main Concepts (Module 1)

The key main concepts are introduced in the first module. This gives the participant an easy enough start to the learning process while also giving them an overview of AKS. Concepts covered in the module include application modernization and containers orchestration. The concepts are explained with ‘Container vs. Virtual Machine’.

Deep Dive IntoDocker (Module 2)

After the introduction to AKS, participants are taken right into one of the most important topics – Docker. The second module aims to give an in-depth look at the topic by covering modules like Understanding Networking in Docker. The other key lessons covered here include Working with Docker compose. Participants can also expect to gain an invitation into topics such as

Working with Docker containers, and Understanding multi-stage build.

The most important takeaway of the second module comes in the form of the all important lesson,

‘How to build and run unit testing inside Docker container’.

Hands On AKS Containerized Applications (Module 3)

Practical learning is the focus of the third module. The purpose here is to give the participant a better idea of AKS functions in the real world. To better facilitate the learning process, key concepts such as Kubernetes Architecture and Components are treated with extreme care. Other important topics include Kubernetes Resources and Objects. Participants can also enrich their preparation for AKS with Kubernetes (Kubectl and Dashboard), and Managing and upgrading AKS cluster.

The spotlight in the third module focuses on a key topic – Containerization security in Azure. The topic is then supplemented with an insight into Introduction to OAM and DAPR.

The hands on feature of the module is highlighted with demos on Creating and Deploying application to Windows Server container on AKS. Plus the lesson on Working with Kubernetes manifest multi-container pod.

Networking, Scaling, Helm – Advanced AKS Skills (Module 4)

With Module 4, participants gain a first hand experience of expert skill sets used in AKS. They are given a comprehensive understanding of key skills such as Configuring data volumes in AKS using Azure Disks and Understanding scaling applications in AKS.

To illustrate the lessons better, demos are used to cover topics such as Creating volumes with Azure Disks in AKS and Advanced networking with Azure Container Network Interface (CNI) in AKS.

The principle focus of the module is to enable the participant to gain more confidence with the new platform with demos that cover How to deploy and provision AKS with Terraform and How to Deploy application to AKS using CI/CD with Azure Pipeline.

AKS Security And Governance (Module 5)

An important cornerstone of AKS, security and governance are explained in full detail in the fifth and final module. Key concepts covered include, Integrating Azure Active Directory with AKS and manage access using RBAC and Securing data running on AKS.

Other key topics include Monitoring and logging containerized applications using Application Insight, Log Analytics and Azure Monitor. The emphasis here is to enable the participants to understand hope important security and governance is to the new platform. This is highlighted with Demo sessions Securing network traffic and cluster configuration file and Integrating Azure Active Directory with AKS. The session will enable a more practical approach to AKS.

The comprehensive course signs off with one of the most important topics – Getting started to Monitor AKS with Continuous Optimization Cloud (CCO) Dashboard.

Summary

The free course has been curated by Mr Radwan to give participants an easy introduction to AKS. Microsoft’s new platform represents the new curve in cloud technology, and the course will provide all the skills necessary to master the platform. Each module presents a pathway to key concepts and important topics. They are all drawn from the expert skill sets of Mr. Radwan himself. The entire course is available in two languages, English and Arabic (عربى).
